Yahoo email stopped working. Signed out and signed back in hoping to 'cure' the problem.

Not sure why it stopped delivering emails, and feared it might have been compromised.
Never had an issue before in using email account name and password. This time, however, Yahoo required additional 'verification' information -- information I did not have like a key code or an emergency code allegedly set up decades ago!
Apparently, Yahoo has instituted additional 'verification steps.' None work. But they did provide an 800 number option for recovery of the account when all else fails, saying I would need a driver's license, USA credit card, mobile phone, and internet access. I had all.

But they could not access the account without the information that does not exist.
This is ridiculous: they add a new 'verification process' which I cannot meet and then, despite having an 800 number that says 'Yahoo PAID Customer Service' will be able to address the problem, when you call -- if you can penetrate the system's requirement for a six-digit code -- you get put into a loop that is nearly impossible to penetrate.
Once you get a 'representative,' however, despite the website's claim that one can recover an account with the above-specified information, the representative will be unable to do anything and will not get you a supervisor with whom to escalate the issue to tech support which has to be able to bypass the newly added requirements for people like me who do not have the required information on file with Yahoo. I for one am reluctant to give such information to a third party like Yahoo because of the risk of it being compromised by Yahoo.
This is consumer fraud!
Use any other email account service.

I have used my Yahoo email for 27 years. I have had the same email account since I was 19.

Today my Yahoo email app said I needed to log back in, which is fine, but the recovery info was all wrong. So I was prompted to call their 800 number. I waited over an hour to speak to someone. I had to give them a photo of my ID and my previous last names, etc.

In the spirit of security, I was fine with this, but the issue was that the girl I was speaking with was not listening to my answers. I had to repeat myself multiple times, and then she prompted me to log in to my account multiple times on different devices and using multiple browsers. This locked me out of my account. Then she said, 'Well, you shouldn't have tried to log in so many times.' I was following her instructions!

She started laughing and said I would just have to wait and see if it works tomorrow. I'm beyond done! I tried the sign-in helper; it says my brand new phone, which was added by the rep today, had too many attempts.

I am moving everything over to Gmail. I will just have to wait and call tomorrow to see if I can get it fixed, but after 27 years, I am done with Yahoo.

I have a lifetime of emails and pictures from people that are no longer living.

If I lose those, I don't know what I'm going to do. You get what you pay for, I guess...and this free service isn't worth the hype.

This is my story and I think I'm not alone like this... I am pretty desperate.

All my Yahoo Mail addresses that I have, I can't enter anymore. You made a pretty bad thing. I have 4 mail addresses; each 2 is the other's recovery address. How can I enter to get the code if each asks for a code to verify it?

I can't get the codes because you decided to re-verify all of them again at the same time. I had used them and verified them one at a time 1-2 weeks prior to me not being able to enter. After 1 week, you made it impossible for me to go into my emails. I need help but I don't know where to write.

I set up an Apple email account now in hopes that anybody in Yahoo will help me recover my emails. I have 7 accounts in total and can't enter any of them. I was not told that this scenario can happen or that it was mandatory to put a secondary way of verifying the mail. You took away my possibility to work in one second because I had just one way to recover for each of them, which I thought should be enough.

It's pretty harsh and all I can do now is beg for help. Thank you for your understanding... Please help me; I’m desperate in this moment. Blessings, peace, and love.

Please let people enter their email addresses without the extra verification so they can first enter and afterward they can set another way of recovery... To be honest, this is not a real recovery as I know my passwords, which means I can enter, but due to the so-called re-authentication most probably made by the AI as a mandatory thing in the new Yahoo Mail, I can't enter as my recovery is the other email addresses that ask for the same code to enter and as you can clearly realize, I can’t enter or get any of the codes.
